Leads Repair Specialist

Role Summary

Location: Newtown, Powys, UK

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join Nidec Drives as Leads repair specialist.

This role supports the inspection, repair, refurbishment, and verification of electrical leads, cable harnesses, and wiring assemblies used throughout manufacturing. The Leads Repair Specialist ensures all repaired leads/assemblies are safe, compliant, reliable, and delivered to production in a timely manner.

The Lead Repair Specialist will possess strong attention to detail and a focus on product quality, supported by effective problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Leads repair specialist consist of but are not limited to:

  • Diagnose faults on electrical leads, cable harnesses, connectors, and assemblies.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs such as re-terminating, re-crimping, splicing, and replacing connectors.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and other engineering documents.
  • Test repaired assemblies for continuity, polarity, insulation, and overall function using approved equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of faults, repairs, and traceability information.
  • Work with Engineering, Test, and Production teams to support investigations and improve lead performance.
  • Assist with root cause analysis for recurring issues and help implement preventive actions.
  • Manage repair area stock, including cables, connectors, tools, and consumables.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace in line with 5S practices.
  • Train operators on correct handling and protection of leads and harnesses.
  • Support engineering with prototypes, trial builds, and changes for new product introduction (NPI).

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience repairing or building cable assemblies, wiring looms, or electrical harnesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring documentation.

Desirable

  • Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience with IPC standards
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing repair environment.
