Environmental Product Declaration & circular economy
At Nidec Power EMEA and Asia, transparency and resource efficiency are at the heart of our sustainability strategy. Through Environmental Product Declarations and circular economy initiatives, we are starting to improve our eco-design practices to deliver products that respect the planet as much as possible.
Transparency through Environmental Product Declarations
As part of our sustainability commitment, Nidec Power EMEA has published its first five Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the LSA 50.2, LSA 54.2, LSA 55.3 ranges, as well as TAL 042 and TAL 0473 in April 2025 and then in November 2025. In March 2026, we published the environmental product declarations for products manufactured in China and India.
Based on a comprehensive life cycle assessment, these EPDs provide accurate and reliable data on the environmental impact of our products, particularly with regard to climate change.
Working on EPDs helps us identify where we are performing and where we can improve. This continuous feedback drives us to design alternators that are greener and more sustainable with every new generation. This transparency reinforces trust and supports informed decisions for customers and partners.
Expanding EPD coverage across our entire product portfolio
Our goal is to extend EPDs across our entire product portfolio. Additional declarations are underway for remaining ranges, ensuring comprehensive coverage. By integrating EPDs into our processes, we align with global sustainability standards and strengthen our strategy to reduce carbon footprint while promoting responsible industrial practices.
Why Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) drive transparency and eco-design?
EPDs play a key role in promoting transparency and guiding our continuous improvement in eco-design. Here’s why they matter:
- Provide standardized environmental impact data
- Support international sustainability requirements
- Enhance customer confidence through transparency
- EPDs give us a clear overview of our eco-design improvement areas, helping us continuously refine our products to make them more environmentally friendly.
Driving Circular Economy Through Eco-Design
Beyond transparency, we embed eco-design principles into our industrial processes to optimize material use, reduce waste, and improve recyclability. This proactive approach minimizes our carbon footprint and promotes a circular economy, where resources are reused and environmental impact is reduced throughout the product lifecycle.
Certified Refurbished Generators – A Smart, Sustainable Solution
Our Certified Refurbished Generators Program gives industrial Leroy-Somer™ alternators a second life while reducing environmental impact. Instead of scrapping equipment, we restore and certify generators to deliver the same reliability as new, backed by a manufacturer warranty.
The program offers products in low, medium, and high voltage options, with turnkey services including removal, installation, commissioning, and rental generators during repairs. This initiative reflects our commitment to circular economy principles—helping businesses cut downtime, control costs, and lower their carbon footprint.

A Circular Approach of the service by Nidec Power EMEA and APAC
Our program is rooted in circular economy values:
- Reuse: Components in good condition are reused, extending generator life cycles through certified checks and reconditioning.
- Repair: Expert-level repairs ensure performance and reliability.
- Refurbishment: Replacement of all necessary components to guarantee quality.
- Recycling: Collection and reuse of end-of-life materials.
By combining eco-design, refurbishment, and recycling, we help customers meet sustainability targets without compromising performance.
Building a Sustainable Future Through Innovation and Responsibility
Our commitment to EPDs and circular economy principles reflects a broader vision: creating products that meet performance expectations while respecting the planet as much as possible. Through transparency, innovation, and responsible design, we are shaping a future where sustainability and industrial excellence go hand in hand.

Our environmental ambitions can only succeed within a workplace that values people.
That is why we place a strong emphasis on our social policies, fostering diversity, inclusion, and well-being across our teams.
