Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

Location: Newtown, Powys, UK

We are looking to hire an enthusiastic Hardware Engineer for our R&D department.The Hardware Engineer will use their technical and applied mathematical skills for troubleshooting. Based on the findings, they will also devise more advanced computer systems.This role requires working as part of a larger team on significant projects or taking on smaller design challenges independently as and when required.

The successful candidate will join a multiskilled team in a fast-paced environment meaning development opportunities are always available.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Submit reports analysing problems along with recommendations for improvements, creating blueprints of enhanced versions of existing and new systems.
  • Build or oversee the production and assembly of a prototype based on recommendations, test prototypes to ensure that the system operates according to specifications and make modifications for optimal results.
  • Select additional equipment to support production and write purchase orders or submit documentation to justify the recommendations for the specified equipment.
  • Store data pertaining to system functions and capabilities such as power supply requirements and user abilities.
  • Supervise and train technicians, designers and inexperienced engineers and offer continuous technical support to team members.
  • Working to agreed timescales & project plans.
  • Daily interaction with engineers from multiple disciplines to ensure solutions are a good fit with the drive architecture.
  • Preparing concise and clear technical documentation and reports.
  • Presenting, discussing, and justifying design concepts and ideas.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstratable relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering a related field.
  • Ability to build prototypes, experiment on systems, and bench test.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills with all levels of management.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work both independently and as an active member of a team.
